Contacts not all appearing in Contacts List

I know they have been backed up to iCloud, but they are not appearing in my Contacts List.  I even have a contact in my Favorites, but no, it does not show up in my contacts list.

Yikes, that's not good at all. Let's find these missing contacts so you can get them re-add them to list. Did you just get the iPhone 4s? What phone did you have before? Did you ever back your contacts up to Google? Sometimes if an Droid was used before the contacts can be saved to your Gmail account.

Yes I did have an android phone before and yes I do believe I was backing up to Google.  So is there a way to get the contacts out of Google and into my iPhone?
