Just really wanted to post a statement here. I went to a local Verizon store today to buy the iphone 6s with the memory upgrade special. I wanted to pay for it in full today. I was told I had to pay for it in installments. I was given the option to pay one month and then pay it off the following month. I decided against this as I did not want to become a regular at the local Verizon store. I walked out the store without buying a device. I posed the same question on line with a representative of Verizon and was told the same thing. They would rather me do the work around than sell me the phone outright with the memory upgrade special today. I guess their business model makes this sound reasonable. By the way I have been a customer for 6+ years. I'll just wait for a different sale.
Like any other promotion, it's a condition of the promo. You can pay off the device, but you must purchase on the payment plan. This is Verizon's idea of how to keep you around for 24 months.
