Group texts to android users

I canโ€™t send messages in group chats that have android users in. Nor do I receive messages from those group chats. I canโ€™t send pictures to individuals with android phones .  This is very disappointing...moving backwards not forward,

I  am also having this same issue. I have been a Verizon customer for 17 years. I just recently traded in my iPhone 11 for a iPhone 14 and have had issues since I got the new phone. I didn't have any cell service when I first got the phone. I went back to Verizon the next day and they fixed that, but I am now unable to participate in any group texts that include Android users. I had no issues with this on my iPhone 11 that was also on Verizon, so something is going on with this phone.

The same thing happened with me when I upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro. I can receive group texts from all iPhone users but if just one person has an Android in the group I can no longer send or receive group texts. Also, I cannot receive any photos from Android users (either alone or in a group). I know itโ€™s a Verizon issue because Iโ€™ve already been to the Apple Store and they tried everything (including a factory reset) and they stated the problem is with the carrier. Has anyone on this thread had a resolution to this problem? If so, please reply. Thank you.

Log in to your Verizon account. Select "Account" at the top of the screen-"My Plan"-"Blocks." After selecting the appropriate line, select "block services"- then toggle on "block picture and video messaging." After saving, wait a minute or two then toggle it back to off. After everything saves, a phone restart may or may not be necessary.

 

This is after you verify that MMS Messaging and Group Messaging are toggled on in your iphone Messages settings.

 

This seems to reprovision sms/mms without having to call in.

the issue started about 2 months ago i was removed and re-added to the group text and it worked for a couple weeks but now nothing works for me to send and receive texts in the group chat. everything else works fine its just this one large group text

If you are experiencing issues sending and receiving messages on your iPhone and Android, please try the steps below:

  • Log in to your Verizon account

  • Scroll down to Devices, and click the applicable mobile number

  • Scroll down to Settings & Preferences

  • Select "Block specific services"

  • Select the applicable mobile number

  • Click the plus sign (+) next to "Block services"

  • Click the plus sign (+) next to "Messaging" Toggle radio button next to "Block Picture and Video Messaging" ON

  • The radio button will turn green (On)

  • Wait for green banner to appear stating "We have successfully saved settings for Block Picture and Video Messaging"

  • Toggle radio button next to "Block Picture and Video Messaging" OFF

  • The radio button will turn white (Off)

  • Wait for green banner to appear stating "We have successfully saved settings for Block Picture and Video Messaging"

  • Select sign out at the top right of the screen

  • A device restart is recommended for changes to take effect

i have done this now for the second time along with resetting my network settings and still cant send or receive messages in the group text

If you have made sure SMS and MMS are enabled on your iPhone, something else to try is to disable iMessages entirely, which forces the iPhone to text in Android format only.  Something else which may be causing a problem is if the Android user(s) used to have an iPhone and didn't deregister their numbers from iMessages - then the iMessage system thinks those users still have an iPhone and will text them in iMessage format, which doesn't work on Android.

I came across an article in the Knowledge Hub section (look on the right side of the forum page for the link) which has more details on what you can try when your iPhone doesn't want to text Android phones.  Hope that helps.
