I have been a verizon customer since my parents bought us all phones when I was in 7th grade. Throughout all my experience with verzion which is, unfortunately, the only service provider that has coverage in my area, it is astonishing how specific language is used in stores while purchasing or upgrading devices to make you think what you're hearing is what you get. Verizon store clerks will use language such as, “you pay this one time fee.” and then after asking MULTIPLE times, in MULTIPLE different ways, “so i pay this amount and i leave the store and that’s all that i owe on this device?” BEING TOLD “yes” what they really mean is, “you pay this amount in store and then for the next 36 months you’ll have a different charge on your bill.” surprise! the language and purposeful leaving out of the truth has just costed me 200$ on a bill i thought was at MOST going to be 105$ including waved activation fees due to promo. I enrolled in welcome unlimited, payed 300$ in store, and was told that’s it. my hands are washed of it, i trade in my old device and go on my way. WROOOONG. the next 36 months i will spend money paying off a device i was led to believe, after asking MULTIPLE TIMES, was paid off in store. as you can guess, there is nothing to protect customers if they’re misled. you get an “im so sorry, i would want to know everything i’m paying too” with a subtle yet not actually subtle suggestion that it’s your fault you didn’t discuss the next bill coming towards you. and finally - upgrade fees. i have seen verizon say with the rising cost of devices- they, a 169 BILLION dollar corporation, with a sitting CEO “earning” 19.83M a YEAR, “had to” tack on upgrade fees. I guess activation fees just weren’t enough! So we as customers, some of us 8-10 year customers, are charged to upgrade with them. for reasons they can only classify as, “devices are expensive.” after my devices are paid off (IN THREE YEARS) I will be leaving verizon for good. I cannot recommend to stay away from this company enough, especially if you’re working class/trying to also eat dinner every night of the week/not looking to be led astray and then surprised by an almost 138% increase on your next bill. i don’t care for a verified verizon response, my capacity for the verizon response book is spent.
