How do I log out of my e-mail on my phone?

I cannot log out of my e-mail. Does that mean that it is open to be hacked?  How do I log out?

What email? The email app that was included on the iPhone? or a stand alone version of email?

On the device go to Settings-Mail, Contacts and Calendars

scroll down to the email account click it then remove the password for the account. Then each time you will need to enter it to access your email.

A  stand alone email app works the same way. You just don't save the password for the email account under SETTINGS.
