How do I reset my frozen iPhone 6s Plus?

My screen is black it will not light up. Ok called the phone and it does ring however I was unable to answer it. I cannot turn the phone off or on. I need help.

Try holding the home button and lock button simulataneously until the Apple logo appears on the screen. If that doesn't work connect your iPhone to your computer and restore via iTunes. Back it up first.

It came back on. Not sure why. Not sure if I did what you suggested or not. I just kept pushing buttons. It was like that for over an hour! Not sure why that happened or what I did to cause it.  Thank you so much for responding.

No problem. I've never had that happen but usually those are two things worth trying to correct an issue. Hope everything stays working correctly!
