I have an ipad air. Can I use this as my wireless phone?

You can use it as a phone if you install an app such as magicapp by magicjack, skype, etc...

You cannot get a Verizon number to ring on there if you don't have a cellphone active on the line.

Of course, if this is not a cellular version of the iPad, you would only be able to send/receive calls when connected to wifi.
