I-phone 4 sound problem

I cant' hear anything through the receiver.  No other problem with sound.  People can hear me when I talk to them on in coming calls, but I can't hear them through the receiver.  If I go to speaker, I can hear the people on the other line.  Don't want to use speaker only as you can imagine.  Any one else with the same problem?
