IOS 7.1 email looping issues

I updated to 7.1 on Sunday.  By Sunday night I have over 9000 emails.  I can only assume it pulled them all from my Verizon account that I had not updated recently as I use Outlook.  Now I can't get rid of the emails.  I keep deleting them one by one and they keep coming back.  Any suggestions?
