ok so i have had these issues since I had the phone but restarting seemed to help for the rest of the day. However here recently it has become much worse, I have had to restart it 6 times just today and it is still opening apps on its own selecting its own letters pretty much doing what it wants. This has become quite annoying as it is hard to do anything on the phone. I have cleaned the screen reset it everything and nothing is working to resolve this. Is my device just defective or is there something I can do to fix this?

We want to make sure your device is working properly. How long have you been experiencing difficulties? Have you tried forcing applications to close on a daily basis to see if this helps? If you haven't we recommend you do this.

I too am having this problem. It started a few days ago and it is CREEPY. I can stare at the phone laying on a table and suddenly my Podcast will open, one will be selected and it will start playing - or google maps will open and map out something in another state. I've restarted the phone, cleaned the screen, etc. I'm puzzled.
Mine does this as well, but only when I am on the phone.

What version of iOS is installed on the iPhone, and if you can recall when was it was installed. What app or apps are most frequently used on this iphone?
Could you go into Settings > General > Background App Refresh and toggle OFF Background App Refresh then restart the iPhone to see if that brings back basic functionality?
In this recent Verizon thread it will show how certain apps can greatly affect an iPhone.

We never want you to have these phone issues. When you have the phone to your face is the screen dark? Is this when your phone is on speakerphone? Do you notice it is one app that is opening?
