International travel on a cruise ship
Slickwillie1480

I will be going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, St Thomas, St Kitts, St Maarten and Antigua.  I have been told that I need the TravelPass, International monthly plan and the ships Wi-Fi or a combination of the three from different CSRs.  I've also read the comments of people who had the appropriate plans and still got stuck with thousands of dollars in charge when they got home.

On https://www.verizon.com/support/international-travel-faqs/, question 3, it states "TravelPass and our Monthly International Plan can't be used in non-covered countries, on cruise ships or airplanes."  Why am I being told to get those plans for my cruise if they aren't available for cruises?

What do I need to get so that I can send a few texts home, make a call or use some data without getting raked over the coals?

Thanks for your time.

Slickwillie1480, we are excited to hear about your upcoming trip. Making sure you are aware of your options is important. We are here to help. We do not provide services while you are on a cruise ship. Usage during the cruise may default to a pay as you go charges of the following (estimated):

  • $2.05 /MB
  • $0.99 - $2.99 /min, depending on the destination
  • 25¢ sent SMS / 5¢ received SMS
  • 25¢ sent MMS / 25¢ received MMS

While you are on the cruise, we would recommend that you place your device on Airplane Mode and review the Wi-Fi Package options your cruise line may offer.

When you dock at your destinations, you can use TravelPass for $10 per day for a 24-hour access at those locations. Review our trip planner here https://www.verizon.com/plans/international/international-travel/trip-planner-tool/
