Iphone Battery Life?

Mine seems to have slightly less battery life than my 4S. Maybe it's still too new to tell?

Guess I'll be looking for a Morphie Juice Pack for mine. Not a biggie.

I just wish they would make the new chargers, cables, and adapters. For now, I'm dragging the new cable around. That's getting old...

Otherwise, I positively love this phone.

I think it's too early to say but personally, my battery life has been better so far. But in all fairness, I haven't gotten in to my normal groove on the 5 yet to really say....I've played around on it but it's been conscious play. I'll know for sure when I'm using the phone without the new toy attitude.

My battery life is noticeably worse than my Iphone 4.

Even though the my old iphone is 2 years old.

So... I'm not happy with the battery life. I cant go through an entire day without having to plug it in.

Could with my old iphone 4.

If you really want to test it out try turning off your LTE....then it would be a fair comparison. Otherwise...you're not considering the drain that LTE would have over your old non-LTE iPhone. Honestly, LTE was never a huge deal to me mainly because of the battery drain I've noticed on those with Android devices that I know....with that being said, so far I have been able to go a day and a half without charging my iPhone 5...granted it has been with a mix of LTE and WiFi but I never switched to 3G. That alone makes me feel like the battery life is decent compared to many LTE devices (so far).  But if battery life is a big enough deal to you then you might want to consider returning the iPhone 5 and sticking with a 3G iPhone (you could go to the 4s)....of course, that's only if you are truly unhappy enough to switch. Or if you are willing to jump from the iPhone together it seems that the Razr (whichever one it is) Android device has far better battery life.

I was home all day yesterday and only get 3g service there.

So yesterday's battery life was based off of 3g/wifi usage.

Had to plug it in to "fill up" before bedtime.

Today I was in an LTE area for an hour. Battery life was a little worse.

I'm well aware of my options (android is not one of them I purchased a Droid X and returned it after a few days).

My beef stems from the fact that Apple would release such a product.

The phone is extremely lightweight and I think a bigger battery would have been a fair trade-off.

That and separate LTE/3g chipsets so I can use speakerphone on a call while browsing the internet. Yes... I did that a lot on ATT.

I've never had a phone in several years that would go all without at least a charge during the 40-minute ride home from work (and coming off the charger at 5:30-6:00am). And our shop is in a low-signal area (forget AT&T working at all, what good is simultaneous talk and surf if it won't make a call?). I don't make any bones about it, I wear a phone and all of its features out. I keep the screen bright. I use a lot of data. I make and receive a LOT of phone calls and with a Bluetooth headset. So the battery will be tested severely.

The Droid X was possibly the best phone I ever had...Android seemed to be at a good place before the latest versions with all the so-called features that the iPhone lacks (Android devs would do well to take to heart a phrase from Scotty during Star Trek - The Search for Spock. "The more they overtake the plumbing, the easier it is to clog the drain"). I've hated every Android phone since the Droid X. Even the beautiful Droid Razr Maxx, with its massive battery life, is still afflicted with Android. Well, enough of that.

Instead of lamenting the battery life, I intend to find a solution, should it be necessary. It's kinda one of those "deal with it or don't". There's far worse cases of that going on all around us.

Hi there Gerio and community!

I know how exciting it is to have the latest and greatest device and how high our expectations are! I want to add to the conversation that we most likely use our new phones more in the first week than future weeks. 

Keep in mind you're still finding ways to customize your phone.  Here's a great article from Apple regarding battery life.

I have LTE service everywhere I go (so far) so my battery life comments are based off of that. With that being said, my battery life is better than it was with my iPhone  4 and 4s...at least so far. Even today with heavier use than I've had since getting it with barely any wifi use my battery has held up as expected. I will put it on the charger tonight since it's currently at 28% but considering the fact that it is now 11:46 PM and the phone has been off of the charger since 6:20 AM I'd say that's pretty good. Not the best of course but nothing to complain about. I think the goal Apple had was to make the iPhone 5 lighter...which would make it understandable that a bigger battery like you mentioned wouldn't have been used...not if it meant defeating the goal of a lighter, thinner device. As far as the separate chips...if I am understanding it correctly, when VoLTE is up and running then we should be able to have voice and data at the same time (aside from having it if you are using WiFi), but for most VZW customers this isn't a feature we're missing because we never had it. I know it's a big deal to some...not so much to others. If the phone would have been heavier and bulkier there would have been complaints on that end also. But if the VoLTE thing is true then I guess that feature will be addressed...not sure when that will be available though...but hopefully those that are really upset that they can't have this feature right now will be satisfied once it does come through.

I have turned off LTE because we do not have it yet where I live. My battery on the 5 is actually lasting longer than the iPhone 4. Make sure your settings are correct.
