I can't figure out why, but my IMEI number has been blacklisted globally by Verizon. This means my phone can't accept any SIM card. From my research, it appears that only Verizon can take my phone off this list.
What's challenging is that Verizon's customer service isn't accessible to me because I'm not a customer. And even if they did entertain my concerns, they might not help since I wasn't the one who initiated the blacklist. I no longer reside in the US, but that's where I was when this issue began.
Here's the backstory: I was on a friend's phone plan, but things turned sour when they physically attacked me, leaving me without a home. I suspect they blacklisted my phone as an additional way to harm me. Now, I've lost touch with the person who did this, and pursuing it legally from another country seems impractical.
To clarify, I purchased the phone brand new from an Apple store and have the paperwork to show for it. I undeniably own this device. I'm imploring Verizon to assist, as I'm unsure of my next steps.
