Hi, I have an iPad and a Samsung galaxy phone Currently, I send and receive text messages on my iPad via the Verizon Message + app. Once this is discontinued how can I receive and send text messages on my iPad?

Hello, Casey04, thanks for reaching out regarding messages. The iMessage feature is a service provided by Apple and is not being discontinued. You can continue to use the stock Messages app on your iPad to send and receive iMessages.

Hi Lauren, my apologies I was referring to the Verizon message + app. Which is being discontinued by Verizon in June of 2024.
is there an alternative way I can send and receive messages on my iPad since a Samsung phone and and Apple iPad are not compatible?

Thanks for that information, Casey04. At this time, we do not have another messaging app to replace Message+. To make sure we're on the same page, are you basically looking for another text app to link your iPad and phone together so you can send messages from either device?

Why is Message+ being shut down???? The available alternatives on my Samsung Galaxy don't measure up in terms of flexibility, customization or ease of use. What will happen to my message history once the app in no longer available??????
I'm guessing the the impending shutdown is why Message+ app is no longer an option in Share options???

We totally understand your concern. What we suggest you is to switch to the default Messaging app on your Android device. All the messages sent through Verizon Messaging+ will also be registered on the pre-installed Messaging app. You can also export or print your conversations. If you're using Verizon Messages, log into your on-line My Verizon account, then hover over My Plan & Services at the top, then click Send a Message. Click the conversation you want to download, tap the three dots in the far upper right-hand corner, then tap Export Conversation (or Print Conversation, if you prefer).

I am disheartened that Message+ is being discontinued. I like the options the app has now, and you are pulling the rug out from under us. You finally had the gifs and emojis galore. I am not happy with the change.

I too am upset. One Time passwords sent by Message+ would only appear on the phone text. It would not appear on other devices such as tablets. This is a more secure method of two step verification than is used in other texting apps. So Verizon gave us the more secure service and now is making it impossible to have that level of security.
With Message+ if someone got ahold of my tablet they can receive the One Time verification codes with Google Messages , for example. So the change will be frustrating and will also cause a lower level of security.

I agree, Verizon needs to make this right - I am a long time Verizon client and feel that this is a very unprofessional thing to do to customers - what happens to the message longs and content after shut-down?

Bring back Verizon Messages!!! I'm unable to send any texts or calls unless it's another apple device. I'm paying for Cellular Data, it has its own phone number and have checked all settings within my plan and device!!
