New Phone on New Line Not Working

Just switched my husband to Verizon, bought the latest and greatest, with a top tier plan and it’s been DAYS. The phone is useless. Without incoming sms text messages he can’t set the phone up to use any of his apps. Customer support to check in on this ticket not being worked involves spending hours at a time going through different departments as they all “need to do their levels of troubleshooting before they can forward me to the tier 2 troubleshooting department to check on the status of my ticket” and even once I get there, it’s “well they’re still working on it”. Verizon does not value keeping customers. If this is not resolved today, I am returning the phone and having him stay with AT&T instead, and joining him.
