hi
I activated my new iphone 16 pro yesterday and it was working fine. Today the phone is stuck in sos mode and so are all of the other new phones on my account that were working yesterday. How do I get out of SOS mode?

We have been a Verizon customer for 15 years or more. Cell phone service inside our home has never been good but in past was always able to go to certain areas of house and make and receive calls. Our phones are set to WiFi Calling. The past 3 months the service has all but disappeared. Now most of the time ‘no service’ or ‘SOS only’ even when connected to WiFi.
What did Verizon change in my area?
What can you do to get my coverage back?

We appreciate those additional details, they are very helpful. You shared this impacts service both inside and outside your home. How far away from your home do you have to travel before service improves? Have there been any changes to the areas nearby your home (example: new buildings)? You shared that you have issues even when connected to Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi calling is intended to assist when you have weak or no cellular network coverage, so that you may be able to make and receive calls and texts over a Wi-Fi network instead. Have you had any issues with your home Wi-Fi connection?

no issues with WiFi at home.
no new buildings
no new trees
WiFi Calling used to work
Nothing has changed in or around the house
Just Verizon service has dropped out.

I would like to note here: in the midst of the National Verizon Outage today, I am having the same issue as the person above. My phone is stuck in SOS mode and I can not make any calls or texts out. I am sitting in a house with full (comcast) wifi and unable to call in/out for work.... I should be able to use my comcast wifi without your service overriding.
Cellular is switched to "off", wifi calls are switched to "on" ... and after that didn't work, I switched Airplane mode to "on" and am still unable to call! I get a pop-up msg saying I need to connect to a wifi network or disable airplane) I am connected to WIFI with full bars.
For the record, i have an iPhone 15, iOS 17.6.1 (and my husband with an iPhone 14 is sitting next to me and Verizon service is working for him)

If you are unable to use Wi-Fi calling even, it's possible there's something going on with your ISP's router. Someone said in another thread they had to set their Wi-Fi to 2.4 GHz spectrum before they got their Wi-Fi calling to work. Another customer reported it was actually their ISP's Wi-Fi somehow interfering with the Verizon service and when they got a new router from their ISP, then they got their cellular service back.
If Verizon has always been kind of bad in your neighborhood, maybe it's time to port?

A thread just appeared with something like ten or twelve replies just now all from iPhone users suddenly reporting their phones are all in SOS mode and it's not just one area either, so I think there's something going on with the network right now as far as iPhones are concerned. My Android has service. If your problem persists, try a new eSIM.

This has been happening on and off for a few weeks now. I need my service today and it has been in sos mode since 730 this morning. What is going on? There is no help or support contact that seems to be working.
