Phone will not connect to wifi nor will apps update etc.

I had the iPhone X and it stopped connecting to any wifi, work, public or my home wifi etc.  While cellular LTE etc. my mail apps are not updating (AOL, GMAIL or the mail app), MS Teams isn't updating, Waze doesn't connect to the network, my blink app won't work etc.  After a long time spent on the phone with Verizon customer service I was told it sounded like my wifi antenna was broken or disconnected.  

I upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro and there was a problem getting it to activate.  Now a couple of weeks later the exact same thing is happening on the new phone.

What gives - I know it isn't my phone or a setting has to be a network issue.  Anyone else having this problem?
