Do you mind disclose where are you located? Do not disclose an address on the public forum, only a city name would suffice.
I could ask someone to check the cell tower coverage around your area.

If your signal strength is habitually horrible (1 bar, "no service", SOS mode) the only real solutions are:
-Get a 4G LTE network extender from Verizon
-Install an (expensive) 3rd party cell phone signal strength booster system
-Switch carriers to someone who has better signal in your area
Cellmapper.net is a pretty good crowd-sourced app for giving estimates of signal strength from all the major carriers, but I've found it's not necessarily foolproof (it told me T-Mobile had comparable service in my neighborhood, which turned out to be completely wrong for me at least, as Verizon performs far better in my home).
Dead zones and weak signal spots can crop up anywhere, unfortunately, as there are several causes.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
