I got a replacement iphone 4s from my insurance (speaker issues) so I have both phones to work with. I synced (backed up) my iphone 4s, set up the new one, except contacts, pictures, text messages, and the general layout just will not restore. It's super frustrating! I restored to factory settings several times, synced with itunes, and same results. I put the sim card in already. I did this before and had no issues, I don't know why this isn't working now... HELP
I would say back up with iCloud instead on that phone thats being replaced. iCloud needs wifi and some time to do but might be easier for this instance.
You can do this without the old one being active
