Service and customer support

I have had Verizon cell  for over 20 years. I purchased a home in a different part of the county in July, and promptly discovered that there is only one bar of service in my neighborhood. I bit the bullet and purchased a cell network extender from Verizon, hoping to amplify the signal enough to be able to use our phones. When it arrived, it was dead out of the box. I spend two hours on the phone with customer service while they tested it to prove I'm not stupid before they agreed to send me a new unit. That unit never arrived, and after almost a month more of waiting I reached out again to customer service. They confirmed that the order had been placed, but the item was backordered so they had cancelled the order without notifying me. They offered to send a different unit which would "do the same thing". What I received instead was a wifi extender (I don't even have verizon internet), which has nothing at all to do with extending my phone signal. So in frustration I bundled up both items and returned them; however, Verizon continued to bill me for the original item, claiming I had a past due amount on my bill, even though I had proof of delivery, and customer service noted receipt of the return. It took me another three hours on chat and phone before I finally got someone who knew how to authorize the credit to my bill that would clear the outstanding balance. And I STILL have poor cell reception at my house, and not one person I've spoken to has offered any real solution for that. This is a well established neighborhood, built in 1992, in the middle of a bustling city, so Verizon has had ample opportunity to improve the service in this area. It is beyond me why they haven't resolved this issue. I know I can't be the only Verizon customer in this 10 block area who is having signal issues. I'm seriously considering switching providers at this point.

Hi, that's unfortunate with your new neighborhood having weak signal.  If Verizon can't get you one of their network extenders for whatever reason, you'd have to look into a 3rd party signal booster system compatible with Verizon, or if your phone is unlocked and supports dual SIM/eSIM, to do the free trials the other guys offer to see if someone else works better.  Or ask the neighbors who they use.
