My son who is in NC and I'm in Florida, his iPhoneX will not work. He is on my plan yet he has no service and a message came up he needs to add a carrier plan.
I tried the chat function, but no response.

We are here to help! I have checked our alerts, and am not seeing any active service alerts in North Carolina at this time. This means we would want to troubleshoot your son's device in order to narrow down what is causing the issue. A few things to suggest would be to have him power down the phone, and remove the SIM Card. After 60 seconds, have him place the SIM Card back in, and power the phone back on. If this does not work, you can also have him reset the network settings on the device. If this also does not do the trick he may have to reach out to us to do some more extensive Troubleshooting.

Make your son an account manager if he isn't one already and get him to call 800 922 0204 on an available phone.
It's extremely difficult to troubleshoot when you don't have the phone with you. Think making car noises at a mechanic while the car is still parked at home.
