I took it out of the case and still doesn't respond.

if i want to go back to the main screen I have to turn the phone off and turn it back on.

as soon as I go to text or contacts or anywhere I can't get back to the main screen.

HELP

Make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store and have them take a look at it.
