Trade in RIPOFF!!!!

So I did the trade in - "get your iPhone 6 for free!"  I had a bad feeling putting my iPhone 4s in that brown package with NO TRACKING on it - but did it and dropped it off at the post office.

Then watched and checked my trade in status because, frankly, I thought eventually it would say it was never received.  Well it finally showed received but says that the lcd screen is not working and the 'touchscreen' is not functional.  MY PHONE WAS WORKING UP UNTIL THE LAST MINUTES BEFORE I PUT IT IN THE ENVELOPE!!!  So now what?  I can't get the phone back - I'm in a contract again for 2 years - thanks Verizon.  I have done a search and it seems MANY people are in the same boat.  Bait and switch.

I may be within the 30 days to return my 6 plus - I may do that to get out of my contract and then I'll go somewhere else.  Of course I NO LONGER HAVE MY FUNCTIONING 4 S
