I’ll get a notification that there’s a new text message and it won’t look like there is one. Then while texting back and forth with people, while I have my texts open I noticed that new messages will pop up farther up in the thread, which is why I wasn’t seeing a “new“ message when I’d hear the new message tone. It’s getting pretty annoying.
Then the other day I sent someone two message, asking a question. When I didn’t get a reply, I sent another text and she replied she had not received the first two. Then she ended up getting them a day or two later!
What is going on And how can I fix it? I’m not positive which iPhone I have - I think it’s 6 or 7.
We know it's important to make sure that your texts are working correctly. What zip code is this happening in? When did it begin?

Whenever your phone is acting up the FIRST thing you should do is turn the WiFi OFF, kill ALL apps and restart the phone. If you have any iPhone BEFORE the iPhone 7 this will be done by pressing the home and power buttons at the same time until the display turns off and you can release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. If you have a 7 this will be the volume down and power buttons.
I have the same problem .. Guys at Verizon store clueless .. Kinda defeats the purpose of text messaging if you have to dig into the thread to see what's up.

We want your messages to be in the correct order, EEWRATH. Let's get this fixed. When did you first notice this issue? What's the make/model of the phone you are using? What messaging application are you using?

Sorry taken me so long to answer - I just realized I had replies to my question (I didn't receive any notification that people answered me). I actually just came on to ask yet another text question. My zip is 11787. Now I have a new text issue. It's now taking some messages approximately 12 hours to get to my phone! It's not all messages so I have no idea why. I updated my phone when the update came up the other day and I've tried turning the phone off and back on. I'm really starting to dislike you, Verizon. It's annoying enough that you don't have an email option so I can get a personal reply opposed to this message board thing, which like I said, I didn't even know I had answers to my original questions. On top of that, your chat function is apparently not working because there's the text to click below to chat but there's no link to click.
Visit a corporate store and ask them to replace your SIM card. Also, try a reset of your network settings.
I am having the same problem. I thought I was going crazy for a bit, but then I realized it was happening, exactly as the other person described. I've been having the issue it for a couple of days now.
Right now I am in zip code 92037, but I travel quite a bit and it seems to be happening no matter where I am at.
I haven't experienced any issues with delayed messages, only them being out of order when sent or received. I have called technically support about this issue, so far we have tried deleting cache, deleting app data, uninstalling app, and restarting phone.

It's much easier to have a conversation when the messages come in order, so let's gather some additional information to find a resolution.
Which model iPhone do you have? Since it's happening everywhere you go, it does not seem to be a network issue. GM had a good idea in swapping your SIM card at a store. Have you tried powering your phone off, removing the SIM for a couple of minutes, then reinserting and powering on? Please try that first.
