Re: Why are text messages posting out of order?

Hey team!

I am having some issues with my messaging+ app.

When I send and receive text messages in short time frames or in rapid

fire, aka, having a conversation with someone and replying back and fourth

right away; the texts are not posting in correct order within the thread.

My messages sent will move to the top, and the messages received will group

together at the bottom of the thread instead of staying in order of when

sent and received by the phone. For a brief second, the message will be in

the correct position while it says sending, but then, after being sent, it

moves.

This issue only seems to occur after sending and receiving the texts within

short successions. In other words, if there is a considerable amount of

time (more that 10-15 mins?) between each text, they will post in order.

This seems to be happening all times of the day, and doesn't seem to be

impacted by the network or area I am in. I don't have issues with calls or

other messaging apps.

Another quirk to this issue, is that after going to bed at night, when I

wake up in the am and look at my past texts, they have magical moved back I

to the correct order. I have a Samsung Galaxy s8+ , and have been having

the issue for about 5 days now? Previously, the app has been working

correctly, it seems to be a recent change to the app that has caused this

issue.

I have contacted Verizon tech support twice, and I also posted to the

Verizon community with people having the same issues. We tried uninstalling

app, deleting app data, deleting app cache, forcing stop, and restarting

device, with a combination of all in-between. They also refreshed my

network registration, and verified no know text messaging issues in my area.

Thank you,

Chris Millen

I realized I forgot to include my software version and app version

Android 8.0

My messaging+ app is version 6.6.6

We understand how important it is to have a device that works properly with all its applications. We do show we have already submitted an internal forum investigation for this issue #98094-050318. We do recommend also reaching out to our app developers on the playstore on the Verizon Messages under contact information. This way they are ware of the affected users.

Oh, no! Andrea, we definitely understand that experiencing issues while trying to send a text message can be extremely inconvenient, and we will be glad to assist you in order to get your service up and running.

Since there are currently no network issues being reported in your area, we would like  to start troubleshooting your device by performing a network settings reset. You can do this by accessing your device's settings. This process will help us make sure that your device and the network are fully in sync.

My texts are also out of order... it happened a while back, went away now it's happening again. I recall it starting about a month ago.

I read a message about this on another forum saying that this has to do with the time settings on the phone.  I was having issues with my samsung watch properly synching so I turned off automatic date and time.  Didnt realize that as ths issue until I came around the fix.  The problem is with our devices' date and time setting. Go to settings -> General management -> Date and Time, then select Automatic Date and Time.  There is a post on At&t's forum about this.

Here it is the end of Oct 2019 and this issue still exists in the field. I am a recent convert to Verizon (as of this past Saturday, having moved away from AT&T) and have a BYOD Galaxy Note 10+. When on ATT with this same phone, conversations through text were in chronological order to when they were sent/received, as you would expect for a conversation. Since going over to Verizon all of my texts float to the top while all of the texts from the other individual show at the bottom. Very frustrating, especially for longer conversations and you're not sure if your message was sent because it is somwhere high up in the conversation forcing me to scroll looking for it.

In addition to this, more than one person on a conversation results in a failed send (although receiving isn't affected)

1Pippo, welcome to the Verizon family. we're sorry to hear that you start with us involves a hiccup with your messaging. We're here to help. Are you using the default Samsung Messanger or Verizon Message+? Does this only impact group messages or individual messages as well?

This happens all of the time between iPhone and Androids.

It is REALLY frustrating.
