Why does my iPhone have a wrong IMEI number?

I was trying to transfer to my friend's family plan and I called customer service. When I gave them the primary IMEI number, they asked me if I had a red iPhone SE. But what I have is a black iPhone XR. And I can't finish the process because the model doesn't match.

 

Why is that? How can I fix the problem?

I know the importance of getting the phone working. Were you able to activate the ICCID/SIM card of the device on your line?

I have been using Verizon wireless service for almost 2 years. Everything works fine.

Thanks for confirming that you have used your phone for almost 2 years and everything works fine, AmberLiu. Is it possible that the wrong IMEI was provided. Please double check and try again. Keep us posted.
