My husband and I have iPhone xr. If I iMessage him, the text is green (instead of the usual blue) and the message doesn’t go through. But, if I message him using his email, it goes fine. This started 3 days ago and it only happens when I iMessage him. I don’t have this issue with anyone else and neither does he.
