I just upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro and the wifi calling is enabled successfully but never actually turns on/works. The indicator never switches from "Verizon" or "No Service" to "VZW WI-FI" like it used to on my previous iPhone. Calls are routing through the cell tower and when I have "No Service" calls don't work, even though the settings says wifi calling is on. I called Verizon and had a group call with an Apple engineer and reset my phone, network settings, and had Verizon disable and re-enable the wifi calling feature on my account and no success getting it to work... Is anyone else having this issue? My parents wifi calling works on their new iPhone 12 Pro but they have T-Mobile. I'm wondering if wifi calling is only not working on the iPhone 12's on the Verizon network. I don't want to exchange the phone if the new one is going to have the same issue..

We would be happy to look into this with you. Have you had any trouble connecting to Wi-Fi for any other services on your device?

My iPhone 7 worked perfectly. Yesterday I bought the 12 pro and can't get it to do wi-fi calling which is critical at my home as there is not hardly a cell signal here.

We will be glad to do all we can to help you get the iPhone 12 up and running, karattopp. It sounds as if the device did not fully activate for you. We have learned a lot about the delayed activations of iPhone 12 models, and how to fix them. Here is what to do. On the iPhone 7, turn off Find My iPhone. Power that device down and set it aside. On the iPhone 12, ensure that Wi-Fi is off and cellular data is on. Also ensure you have the SIM that came with the iPhone 12 installed, and most importantly, that you are in an area where there is a strong Verizon Wireless signal. Next, go to settings, general, reset, and select “Erase All Content and Settings." When the device is done erasing, it will start the activation process, which will now complete for you. Please let us know what happens.+

I'm very frustrated as this past week I've spent countless hours on trying to get my WiFi calling working again. I've had several support sessions with Apple in which they remotely viewed my phone screen. They had me do all the different troubleshooting steps including resetting my network settings with no luck. I had an Appointment with Best Buy geek squad set up through Apple. They did diagnostic tests & found nothing wrong with the hardware & the software is up to date with iOS 14.4. They popped out the 5G SIM card & put it back in to see if that would enable the WiFi calling but it didn't. They said everything with the iPhone is working properly so it has to be something wrong with how Verizon has your phone set up to the network or the wrong provisions. I had an appointment at my local Verizon store with no success in fixing the issue. It's only been about 6 weeks since I paid $1500 for iPhone 12 Pro Max 512 GB & already, about a week ago my WiFi calling suddenly stopped working. It wasn't too long after I updated iOS from 14.3 to 14.4 that the issue began occurring. It is enabled in the settings but doesn't show up in the upper left corner of the taskbar as VZW Wi-Fi as it should. I only typically get 2 bars of signal at home so WiFi calling is critical for me. When I brought my phone into the local Verizon store, I brought up the issue about my phone not being set up right to the Verizon network or the wrong provisions according to Best Buy. The Verizon solutions manager said, "That is way past my pay grade." He tinkered with it for awhile & couldn't get it to connect to Verizon's store WiFi that isn't password protected. He thought he had it fixed by setting it to airplane mode since it turned on WiFi calling with the VZW Wi-Fi turned on in the taskbar and he was able to make a call to his personal hotspot WiFi on his phone since it is a password protected WiFi. He said that WiFi calling will only connect to a password protected WiFi network. He was confident it was now fixed because airplane mode turns off cellular so the call has to be made with WiFi calling. I asked him, "So when I disable the airplane mode & get home, the WiFi calling will be enabled to my WiFi router?" He said definitely as long as it's password protected, (which it obviously is). When I turned off airplane mode & got home, WiFi calling still doesn't work. It will only work if I keep it in airplane mode which would be pointless. I came to realize within this forum that many other users with this same problem could only get it to work with airplane mode but it doesn't fix the issue. My WiFi works with every other device in my home including my iPad so it's not my WiFi network. I Just in case, I tried it on a couple other WiFi networks of my neighbors & WiFi calling wouldn't connect either even though it's enabled in the settings. I would appreciate some prompt help. Thanks

Same problem. $1200 iPhone 12 Pro and I can’t hold a call in my house. Sometimes it will work a few minutes, then the other person can’t hear me, then if I try and call back it says call failed. Reset network settings didn’t work. Reboots don’t work.

RDCC-zg, keeping you connected is a priority. We are here to work toward a resolution. Is the phone using Wi-Fi or standard calling when inside the home? Does the service improve outdoors?

I’ve had this problem a lot lately and what personally solved it for me was turning off Cellular Data under Settings>Cellular. I toggled it off for a minute and then back on and Wi-Fi calling worked again.

I've had the same issue as everyone else. Wi-Fi calling only enables in airplane mode. Does anyone have a fix that actually works yet? I've done all of the resets through @vzw_customer_support and Apple. Nothing has worked.
Please help!

I'm having the same problem. Reception here is absolute garbage. I have complained to Verizon many times and even when they say "connectivity is important to us" they don't care. After 25 years of service with them I am ready to dump them. No one can answer my questions. Every person I have spoken with says, "We will write down your concerns and pass them along". Well, this has been going on long enough. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!! I have 0 bars in my house. Wifi calling does not work. I finally bought a landline in case my house catches fire or I have a medical emergency. This whole area has garbage reception. There is a cell tower less than a mile from us that has panels of competitors on it. I have been told by a Verizon rep that Verizon may not be allowed to put panels on this tower due to township ordinances. Balderdash! You're a big company with big boy pants. You can figure out a way. You just don't care about the little guy anymore. Since I "upgraded" to the iPhone 12, and my son the iPhone 12 Pro Max, our service has gotten even worse. My wife has an old iPhone and her service is more reliable than mine. When will you listen to the complaints from our area? We have a Michigan highway that runs 1/2 of a mile away from our house and there are over 2 miles of dead zone. Is it really that difficult to do something about this? Topography has little to do with this issue. Like I said, there is a cell tower up the hill from us that would cover a huge area. Utilize it! The intersection we are near in Michigan is M-44 and Lincoln Lake. The cell tower you can mount some panels on is north of M-44 1/3 of a mile on the east side of the road. You can't miss it! Please read this message and finally help out the thousands of people who pass this corridor every day. Life is already stressful enough. This is something you can do something about. Thank you!

My phone does not work well on verizon wifi calling. The person cannot hear me. During a call when it was happening I went into setting and turned it off and the call returned to normal. Both my sons bought iphone 12 with Verizon and they all have the same issue.

I have the exact same problem. I drop all my calls because it’s not going through our WiFi (was not an issue on my 8). Apple even exchanged my 12 Pro and it’s still occurring. It’s WiFi calling specifically which I depend on since we live in an area with terrible cell service. Just to see what would happen I tried calling my husband while connected to WiFi in airplane mode and even though it should an internet connection on the phone, it told me to connect to WiFi first before placing a call. Thinking I’ll probably have to return this phone

I'm sorry that you are having issues with the WiFi Calling feature on your new phone, JCash6. I am confident that we can resolve this issue for you. You mentioned that you tried to make a call to your husband while connected to WiFi in Airplane Mode. Please turn off the Airplane Mode, power your phone off for 2 full minutes, power the phone on, and try your WiFi call but do not turn on Airplane Mode. Let us know if this works.
Make sure to enable the WiFi Calling feature on your phone as per this link (https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-208397/) too.

I’m have the same issue with my iPhone 12 pro. My wifi calls either drop or won’t even begin. I also have the same problem with my iMessage and regular sms text messages on WiFi. They won’t send. I’ve reset the network settings but still drops. My iPhone 11 Pro Max had no issues.

UPDATE: I got my WiFi calling fixed by doing a whole network reset. Some how Verizon activated my phone number on the esim not the SIM card. Once I did a reset a notice alerted me to the sim problem. It said did you want to use the SIM card and I said yes and bingo it was fixed!

While out and while I had a better cell signal, I tried enabling Wifi calling again. But when I got home to my Wifi it's still not working. I'm not sure who to blame - both Verizon and Apple are pointing fingers at each other.

Hey. Do you have HD Voice enabled for your Verizon phone line/number? It’s in the add one section of your Verizon account. I believe that is required to use WiFi calling. Also does your plan allow WiFi calling? I can’t remember if it’s a standard thing. Hope this helps. I will think more on what I have done before. This has happened to me on an Android phone once and the phone company and Verizon just said it’s the others fault.

Yes I have HD calling enabled as well as Wifi calling - it was working just fine on my previous phone (iPhone X). Just went to the local Verizon store, they did everything I've done and according to them "it should be working, it must be the phone." Great. Let's point back to Apple.
