iPhone 4 has a black screen but the backlight lights up

So my friend was holding onto my phone for me and he dropped it. Now the screen is black, but the backlight will light up when you hit the unlock button, the home button or receive an alert. The sound works perfectly fine, and voice control works when trying to call someone, but i wont be able to hang up. also when plugging it into an idock and pressing play on the dock it will work. I took the phone apart and put it back together to make sure everything was hooked up right, but it still wont work. anyone know what could be wrong possibly? i dont want to spend money on a new screen if i dont have to. Thank you!

Broken phones are no good. It's important to have a properly working phone at all times. I see that you have performed some great troubleshooting. I want to help. Did you have insurance on the line http://bit.ly/xB4iTc ? Typically, when the screen has gone black, and powercycling the phone doest not work, then the device would need to be replaced. Keep me posted.
