I have an iPhone 5 64 and noticed it's no longer available on verizon and apple so my question is what happens if my phone breaks or have a malfunction and it's not available I don't care for the 5c and 5s only goes to 32GB.

It'll get replaced with a 5 for now. At some point when OOW you will pay Apple an OOW fee and "upgrade" to a 5C more than likely or you'll use your upgrade to a new device.
