iPhone 5 fix causing problems with 4?

I understand a "fix" was issued today for a bug with the iPhone5. I am wondering if it adversely affected the iPhone4 because mysteriously my wife's e-mail stopped working on her phone. When I tried to log her in I got a message the the "service is not available at this time."

scw13 - Not accessing your email is no bueno! It comes in handy for work and getting the heads up on awesome deals! As far as we're aware, it has not caused any issues with email services as that fix was specifically for the iPhone 5. Sometimes certain email companies can change the email settings and the way certain mobile devices access their server. Did you try resetting the phone, or deleting the email account and recreating it? Let us know if you still need our assistance so we can help you troubleshoot!
