I purchased an iPhone from the Apple Store for my son. While purchasing, it said purchaser must be 18+, so I entered my Verizon number since I was the adult. Now when setting up the phone, it is trying to activate to my number only. It says if this is incorrect, to continue activation and call Verizon. This would deactivate my phone and use my number on his phone, causing multiple number switching and at least 3 activation fees to set it back. There has to be an easier way for a new phone not even set up. Any ideas?

Update for those that have had a similar issue. I spent over an hour in a 3 way call with Apple and Verizon. The "fix" was to send the phone back for a refund and re-order with the desired number. Apparently neither Apple or Verizon can move a pending phone to a different number that was purchased through Apple.
