I was browsing the Verizon site the other day, looking for a new iPhone. I've been clinging to my old iPhone 7 for years now because I don't want to spend a lot of money on an upgrade. I started chatting with a Verizon sales rep, who said the company could offer both me and my wife with an iPhone 12 -- for free.
I asked the sales rep if this would increase my monthly bill and she said no. I asked for the offer in writing, and she sent me a receipt showing that my bill would, in fact, stay at about $128 per month after a monthly discount was factored in to completely cover the cost of the new iPhones.
My question is this: what's the catch? Does Verizon really provide iPhone 12s to customers at no cost? Should I expect my monthly bill to increase a few months from now?
