iphone 4 issues

I'm currently having issues with my phone that I've never had before. Since the update my phone has been shutting down on it's own at random times of the day and will power back up. Also when sending text messages the other party receiving the messages informs me that it comes in in multiples of three. On my end regarding the text messaging it will show as sending but then stops as if it was kicked back. Any assistance in getting the issue resolved would be much appreciated.
