iphone sending a text insteat of message

I phone is sending a text instead of message .  it just started

any idea how to correct this

Possible causes:

1) Device is signed out of appleID in iMessages

2) iMessages is turned off

3) The receiving person does not have Apple device or he or she has iMessages turned off

4) You do not have a network connection

If that fails, try rebooting the phone.

Let's make sure your iMessages are working, luluromero. Weth has mentioned a number of things that are important in order for iMessages to work. Please ensure you have an active data connection and iMessage is enabled by going to Settings>Messages and turning on iMessage. Please test to see if the texts you send to other iPhone users are now sent as iMessages. If you continue to experience problems, try resetting your Network Settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
