someone blacklisted my phone

I don't quite understand why, but Verizon has placed my IMEI number on a global blacklist. That means that no SIM card will work with the phone. After some investigation, it seems that only Verizon is able to remove my phone from this list.
But here's the frustrating part, Verizon customer service won't talk to me since I'm not a customer, and even if they did then they still wouldn't help me, since I didn't place the phone on the list myself. I'm not living in the US anymore either, though I did when the problem first started.
The story is that I had joined a friends phone plan, until they decided to physically assault me and make me homeless. I imagine that remotely disabling my phone was simply another way of hurting me. I no longer have any way of contacting the person who responsible for bricking my phone, and it's not like a police report from another continent would be any use.
I bought the phone brand new from an Apple store, and I have the invoices to prove it. Beyond question, I'm the original owner of the device. Please Verizon help me, I don't know what else I can do.

I know how frustrated I would be if a device I had purchased was placed on a lost/stolen list without my knowing, verizonaccount69. I know that not having a Verizon account can complicate things. I'm sorry to hear that you were assaulted, and I hope that you're okay. While I can't promise we can help get the device unlocked, we can certainly take a look at everything to determine if that is something we can help with. Please be on the lookout for a private note from us.
