verizon is not applying previous trade in value

I bought an iPhone 13 pro max 13 months back and traded in a device to Verizon. now my device has an issue and the only solution I have is to go for the new device I paid a $733 balance on my previous phone. but the remaining trade-in value is lost(447)
now i paid for new device and no one from verizon is able to answer what happened to remaining trade in value?
I am really disappointed with the service.
