when i receive a text message it shows the name but when I open my text it only shows the phone number how can I change this

When I receive a text it shows the persons name but when I open my texts or open to send a text it will only show the phone number and not the persons name  it used to show the name until I did an update yesterday how do I fix this?

That is odd that your names are not appearing. We are here to help. Did anything change on your device when the problem started? What model iPhone do you have? Do your contacts appear in your contact list?
