Ever since I purchased my LG Cosmos Touch I've been bombarded nightly at around 2 AM among other times to download the VZ Navigator application. This is not a phone call, but the same advertisement that plays as if you don't have VZ Navigator installed and click the button on the main menu with the "Get" button at the bottom of the screen.
Since this plays over the speakerphone function, this often will wake me up while I'm trying to sleep as well as drain the battery on the phone. Does anyone know how to turn these ads off since 1. I already have a GPS that works fine and 2. I have no interest in using data on this phone.

Same problem here, 2:30am this morning and about 4 days ago. I'm almost 100% certain its the VZ Nav ad, but since it is waking me from a sound sleep, I could be mistaken. Please tell me how to make it stop. Thanks.

I would like to thank all of the members of the community for responding. I know how I would feel if I was woken up by a phone alert every morning. I believe that you are receiving some kind of multimedia alert. Below, I have posted instructions on how to change the alert settings from page 96 of your owner’s manual: You can also get other helpful tips from your manual by clicking on the link below:

Are you serious?
a better answer would have been to shut the phone off.
{please keep your posts courteous}
I have ANOTHER customer that was suckered into this and the only thing I can recommend is return the device.

I have been awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of a woman's loud voice coming from my lg cosmos, too. When I look at the phone, it's trying to sell me movies or something. Frankly, I am beyond annoyed. Apparently the only solution is to head to the Verizon store and actually talk to a real person...which I am going to do today. If the associate acts like this is the first time he's heard of this problem, I may just drop my service altogether. I am disgusted with both Verizon and LG.

I understand it is frustrating to receive advertisement alerts early in the morning. The LG Cosmos comes pre-installed with an app called Daily Scoop that sends out alerts. It may be this application causing this issue. The app cannot be completely uninstalled, but here is a way to turn off the alerts:
Go to Media Center
Browse & Download
Launch Daily Scoop
Select ‘Menu->Options->Verizon Msgs’
Choose ‘Off’ and ‘Save’.
Repeat the same procedure for ‘Menu->Options->Bonus Msgs’
