Battery overheating. Powering down for phone safety.

Does this message mean I need a new battery or is there anything I can do to fix the problem myself?  Phone and battery are only a few months old.  Where can I find out if it is still under warranty?

Does this message show when you are doing anything specific on the phone? It could mean that the phone is being overworked too quickly or that there is a battery issue.
