Can basic phones run apps?

I really need to print out some text messages that I received.  I can't forward them to email because of enhanced features.  I see there are some apps for printing text messages.  Can basic phone run apps?  If so, can someone please tell me how I would go about getting the app and running it?

You might try bitpim software to move your texts from your phone to your computer and then print from there.  The software is free.
