How to download pictures from LG phone to desk top computer?

With some basic phones you can connect the phone and computer with the USB cable and 'drag and drop' files (although some phones also require installation of an SD card).  For other phones, this route isn't possible but sometimes bitpim software (Welcome to BitPim ) works.  Which phone do you have?
