How to respond to an MMS group message on my TCL Flip Pro

I received a group MMS text message on my new TCL Flip Pro.  I responded to the group message and instead of the recipient getting my message within the thread/conversation, each recipient got a separate text message from me as if I wasn't part of the group.  Any ideas on how to respond to the group and keep the response in the thread?  Thanks.
