I need to deactivate my iPhone 4s so text msg's will come to my LG Revere

So, I ordered an iPhone 4 s since it was free, (after having lost my LG Cosmos vn250) but decided that I'm old school and classic, I decided to go back to basics.  I went with an LG Revere because it was free and the Cosmos vn250 wasn't available.  Anyway, I removed everything from the iPhone and turned it off before activating the LG Revere but, I wasn't receiving any texts to the LG.  I turned the iPhone back on and sure enough, they were still going to it.  So, how do I fix this?  My LG is already activated but not receiving any text messages.

Perhaps your friends are sending iMessages, rather than texts?  Go into youriTUnes account and remove the phoen from the iTunes account, and tell those texting you to send regular texts, not iMessages.
