I just activated a new Samsung Alias U740 that was purchased from an online vendor new, unlocked, verizon. After activating it, I am able to send and receive text messages but not calls. I have tried powering it off, removing the battery, reinstalling the ballery, and dialing *228 to program again. I always receive a message that the programming is successful, however still cannot make calls. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

What happens when you try to call? Did you use *228 option 1 and option 2?

Yes, I activated *228 and it says programming successful and the phone
restarts. I also have used Option 2 to update roaming profile, and it says
successful and the phone restarts. I have done both of these several times
and still cannot make the test call #832 or any other call, or receive
calls. Thanks

Nothing happens. No errors, no messages. I input the number and press
send. The screen shows calling.... for about 10 - 20 seconds and then it
goes back to the default screen. No dial tone, etc.
As far as receiving calls when I call the phone from another phone, it goes
to voicemail after several rings.

Hey dabearsmc!
Sounds like we have quite the problem on our hands! Let's get it fixed! Have you tried to deactivate any call forwarding through dialing *73? That would allow calls to come through. Also, we might want to manually program your phone to make sure that the right number is programed on the phone. Dial *611 to get that done. You are making a connection to our network if you can text. This may be an issue with your number on our network, so I would recommend calling into Tech Support for further troubleshooting. Please update us so we can see if anything else needs to be done.
Thanks!

Thought the phone may be defective, so the vendor replaced it. Activated
the phone online and through *228. Same results. Shows programming
successful, but cannot make or receive calls. Cannot get the test call #832
to go through, cannot get either suggestion below *73 or *611 to go through
either. Not sure where to go from here.

Dabearsmc, it sounds like you did everything correctly since *228 went thru. Hopefully this issue is resolved, but if not, I can provide a few more steps. Make sure your old phone is turned off and attempt programming again. If no change, we'll need to further review your account. Please send me a direct message with your name and mobile number. I followed you to complete this request, just hover over my name to send a direct message.
