I would like to customize my TEXT MESSAGE TONES on my Dura XV LTE. The process that allows setting RINGTONES does not seem to apply to MESSAGE TONES. This is silly. A sound is a sound. How do I create MESSAGE TONES?
Thanks in advance.

Here's what I did to add a custom Notification sound to a Kyocera DuraXV LTE E4610 Flip Phone.
Note that I have developer options turned on so I can use adb to copy files to the phone.
I do not have an SD Card installed.
1) Convert the mp3 sound file to an oog file. I used the ffmpeg command line utility.
2) Copy the oog file to the phone's internal storage folder, Notifications, located at /storage/Notifications if you are using adb.
3) Open Menu -> Media center -> File manager -> Phone -> Notifications.
4) Highlight the oog media file and select Options then Set as ringtone.
5) The Notification sound will now show up in the Notification list. Set the notification sound in settings and/or Messages.
6) Change my ringtone back.
It would appear that you have to convert Notification files to an oog format, copy it to the Notifications directory of the phone's internal storage, and then register it as a Phone Ringtone to get the custom Notification to show up in the list.
We certainly want to see you enjoy the tones that you want if possible. To confirm, are you having difficulty setting a tone in the general Settings or recording a tone and then setting it for your messages? YaleK_VZW
Thanks for replying.
I'm having trouble recording a tone and setting it for messages. More specifically, I have prerecorded tones I was able to set as RINGTONES but cannot set them as MESSAGE TONES.
You are welcome, KJP_SLC. We are always here for you. Let's look into this further. What happens when you tap select 'Alert Sounds' using the steps on this link? https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-142065/ Do you see the tones you recorded?
Thanks for replying,
That instruction page is for the DuraXV, not the DuraXV LTE. The menus are not the same.
Here is the menu for my phone.
KJP_SLC, when we review your previous link and the link on this page: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-214483/ it says that its for the right phone. Were you able to find the information that you were looking for?
Hello, KJP_SLC. Custom tones are a great way to personalize your device, and we can certainly review your options. To clarify, are you asking about Ringtones, or Notification Tones? CourtneyM_VZW
