Does this phone still work on Verizon? Thinking of purchasing one for someone who needs a rugged basic phone.

Even if it worked now it won't work after the end of the year when Verizon shuts off its 3G service. And i don't think they are activating any 3G phones anymore, so the answer is almost certainly no. You will have to find a <sarcasm mode on> more expensive, bigger, bulkier, heavier phone with worse performance and features you don't want or need.
