I had a LG Vu w/ ATT and now I have a LG Cosmos2 but this phone can't seem to read the MicroSD I took out of my Vu. When it formatted it erased all my contacts- I still have them on my old phone,. But how can I transfer my stuff from my Vu to my cosmos 2 w/o having to do it 1 by 1? Help!!!

If you just are asking for an efficient way to transfer contacts, you can transfer the contacts by Bluetooth:

Do you mean that you formatted the memory card while it was inside the Cosmos 2?

http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/memory-cards/erasing-and-formatting-a-memory-card/

"Formatting, on the other hand, deletes all [information] from a memory card, even the ones that may have been protected. It recreates the file system including new directories and folders where images are saved on the card."

I found several websites which say that it might be possible to recover some of the information.

While the standardized Verizon menu means that the user experience will be mostly the same from phone to phone, there will be some differences. You've encountered one of them.

When the phone formats the memory card, the phone creates folders on the memory card for storing content. The phone manufacturer or Verizon sometimes decides to go with different folder names.

The VX8360 uses these folder names:

http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=21930

  • media
  • my_flix
  • my_music
  • my_pix
  • my_sounds

The Cosmos 2 probably is looking for a different folder name such as "my_pictures". If you knew ahead of time what folder name the Cosmos 2 uses, you might be able to get away with using your computer to create a folder with that new folder name and then transfer yourself the pictures from "my_pix" to the new folder name.

However, I've often read that ideally a person should format a memory card in the new phone prior to storing content on it. But formatting erases all content on the memory card. So if you want to format first, then first transfer all content onto the computer, format the memory card in the new phone, and then transfer the content onto the card.

Go to www.verizonwireless.com and use the search box to search for various phrases like "cosmos 2 memory card" or "cosmos 2 pictures" to find instructions if you need greater detail.
