LG Cosmos 2...mobile email has stopped working

I have an LG Cosmos 2.  Been pretty happy with the phone, esp. the mobile email function.  3 days ago, the mobile email started displaying the message ""no messages available" every time I log in. I have tried deactivating my account and setting it up again and even have deleted the app and reinstalled it several times.  No luck.  If I compose an email, I can look up my online contacts, so it is connecting my gmail account, it's just not bringing up the messages.  Anyone else have this issue?

Please ensure your email alerts are on: Mobile Email>Ensure Account is highlighted>Options>Settings>Locate Notify>Select On>Save. I hope this information is helpful!
