LG Extravert 2 and Phone Upgrade

Hello!

          So I've had my LG Extravert 2 since June of 2014, and I have had an UNBELIEVABLE amount of problems with it since I've had it.

          The phone won't receive messages unless I restart my phone, so I do that at least 3 times a day. I can't delete most of my messages because they turn into "no content" and then I can't do anything with them- I still have blank messages on my phone from July that I can't do anything with. They're filling up my inbox so I need to erase most text messages the day I receive them before they turn into "no content" messages, and I even have the "Auto Erase Inbox" setting turned on. Another problem is that my phone won't even show Sent messages, which is frustrating at times if I need to refer back to something I've said. Multimedia messages, whether it's a group message or picture, won't be received, but I don't know whether that's due to the phone itself or the fact that I'm usually receiving multimedia messages from smart phones. On top of that, my phone won't show who's called me if I missed a call, so I need to guess or hope they left a voicemail.

         I'm really tired of dealing with this phone, and I've avoided going to the Verizon store about it because while reading about the issue, people have had their phones replaced but with another LG Extravert, so then they end up on having the same problems. I know there's been an software update mentioned, but my phone hasn't had any new updates in months, so waiting for the update is pointless.

         I'm due for my phone upgrade in late May, which then I'll be getting a smart phone for college. I'm wondering if there's a way I can do my upgrade early, even if I need to pay a fee. I'm really frustrated with this phone and the sooner I can get a smart phone, the better.
